Rebeca leads the engineering team that licenses IP and has supported the formation of more than 20 IP startups since 2019. You will probably work with her and the relevant IPC team member in the early stages of commercialisation of engineering technologies.
Since joining Imperial in 2012, Rebeca has established a broad portfolio of strategic partnerships with industry sponsors in engineering sectors including Energy, Tech, Engineering, Automotive, Mining, Pharma, and Manufacturing. She has worked with companies such as Shell, Dyson, Rolls-Royce, ABB, Heartflow, Petronas, EDF, Facebook, AZ, MHI and Lilly to create a series of results-driven / high-impact industry-funded research centres and programmes.
Rebeca has led the licensing of Imperial’s technologies to startups such as Bumblebee Power, Quaisr, ToffeeAM, Lumiritithmic, Ariel-AI, CurvEx or Additive Instruments and she has led commercialisation of a number of Imperial’s technologies via licensing to 3rd parties in the Engineering sector.
Before joining Imperial, Rebeca spent eight years in industry and five years in academia. She holds a PhD in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Plymouth and has completed formal training in Technology Transfer and Innovation Management at ESADE Business School. She is trilingual in English, French and Spanish.
